The below message, in reference to the subject note, was posted today to Jean-Pierre Paats Williams, and others:

Note that Christopher Pett (son of Joseph Pett of Limehouse), christened 18 June 1632, simply disappears from all history and genealogy of the Petts of England. I believe he was the father of Dr. Samuel Peete (also spelled Pette in records), of Pate’s Delight, in Northampton County, in North Carolina.

The actor allusion I find poorly chosen. You may be yet be surprised about the Bible story (or am I the one being naive?). Time (certainly not you) will answer that question. I understand your evasiveness, however.

In the context of the Burke and Barron paper, a person has to be dumb as dirt to fail to see the La Neve (Snow) connection to the present Snow Hill in Green County, just around the bend in Contentnea Creek from the Tuscarora fort town Neeooherooka, where Joseph Pett built his Quaker church. Barnes is an old Wayne County name with present day family ties to my John Montague kin, of the administrators of the Pett-built English Navy.

Perhaps the most egregious and obvious tie of the Pett shipbuilders to the Pates of Gloucester County, Pettsworth Parish, in Virginia, is the Bacon of Canterbury connection. I see now more clearly the rueful comment of my father that nothing of consequence in the world happens accidentally.

My son James is in looks and temperament as I imagine Peter Pett of Sovereign Of The Seas fame to have been. My son Alan is so much like my father in looks and temperament it is scary. They both have work connections to Vandenberg AFB.
