Do you know if your family is from France?
The reason I ask, is my family name is Pate
with a ^ over the 'a' and an acute accent
on the e, sounding like Patay.
Someone told me that the French at some
point in their history replaced 's' with
the Circumflex accent. There is a Famille
Paste in France in the medieval times.
