A Young Life Closed
The news of the death of Henry Pascoe last Wednesday evening , after an illness of but a few days, was a great shock to this community. The young man was known to every resident of the place, having for the past eight years been a trusted employee of Inch & Son, commencing as a carrier of the daily papers. He was not in his usual health, but kept at his work in the store until Friday evening, when he was urged to go home, as he had a severe headache. Acute pneumonia developed soon after, and the despite the skill of physicians and every care of devoted parents, he sank rapidly, until his death came, as stated about 4:45 o’clock Wednesday.
William Henry Pascoe was born in Placerville, May 11, 1891, and received his education in the schools of this city, commencing in Mrs. Dormody’s private school and finishing with two-year high school course, after which he started to work for Mr. Inch, and at time was bookkeeper and collector for the firm. He was but a few months from his majority, having reached 20 years, 7 months 13 days, and a prominent member of the local Parlor of Native Sons in which he had held the office of Marshall, and had recently been elected 3d vice president. He was also a member of Placerville Nest, No. 1311, Order of the Owls of this city. About 2 years ago he underwent an operation for appendicitis, but otherwise had never been seriously ill in his life, and his death is a great blow to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Pascoe, whose only child he was, and who have the sympathy of all in their great bereavement.
The funeral will take place Sunday, Dec. 31st, under the auspices of Placerville Parlor, No. 9, N. S. G. W.. from the Catholic Church at 2 o'clock p m.
