Hi Anne
Not sure how much you know about the area, but a lot of my ancestors were born Wednesbury/Darlaston. Kings Hill an area between the town centres of Wednesbury and Darlaston was in Wednesbury up to about 1902 when boundary changes moved it into Darlaston (now part of Walsall). Many who born in Wednesbury were so close to the centre of Darlaston they considered themselves Darlastonians, and said as much on census entries.

My 2x great grandparents Thomas Spellman and Elizabeth Corns were married at St Martin's Tipton 1847. Elizabeth was born at Kings Hill and lived no where else before her marriage. Which incidently was witnessed by James amd Elizabeth Partridge.

Hundred's of Darlaston and Wednesbury folks married at St Martin's Tipton. And nearly as many went to All Saints West Bromwich to get married. The reason for this apparently was because the vicars could charge whatever fee they wished and the vicars of these 2 churches charged very low fees and didn't question whether or not they actually lived in the parish or just staying temporarily to get residence status.

Jackie
