I believe we are researching the same PARSONS family. From the 1850 census, Jackson co., VA (now WVA), & other records, Charles PARSONS, b 1810-1811 in VA or now WVA, and wife Ollyanna HINZMAN PARSONS, b 1812-1813 OH or NY, had children named Emeline, b Jun 1837 VA/WVA, William, b 1838-39 VA/WVA, Samuel b 1842-43 VA/WVA, George b 1845-45 VA/WVA, and Jonathan b 1847-49 VA/WVA.By 1860, in Van Buren Twp., Lee Co., IA, the children Emeline, Samuel, George, and Jonathan PARSONS are living with a different Charles PARSON, age 31 b VA, who is too young to be their father and (I am guessing he must be a cousin).I have no additional info on this Jonathan PARSONS, but he seems to fit the one you are studying.
I have been researching the above Emeline (aka Emaline) PARSONS, who became the 2nd wife of Henry WILLIAMS some time 1860-1870, and lived with Henry in Kansas from 1870 until his death abt 1895.
