Capt. Joseph Parsons' father's name was Samuel Parsons. Joseph was one of his two sons by his first marriage prior to moving to and settling in Montgomery County, NC around 1748. Samuel Parsons and Joseph had both received land grants from the King for land along the Pee Dee river in Anson and Montgomery Counties, NC. Samuel and Joseph also were among the earliest members to serve in the NC Senate and House of Representatives. It's been a while since I delved in to this...but will go through my notes and can probably add some to this.
