Hey Wendy! Please send me an email sometime. I'd love to know if you found out anything about Aunt Rose. I called mom today and asked if she had heard anything from all the Alabama Parsley's.
I am the grandson of Elbert Altman Parsley. I don't know a whole lot about his siblings children, but I think I met all of his brothers and sisters. I last saw Aunt Rose (Virginia Rose) and Aunt Celeste at grandmother and grandfather's funerals. Uncle Wayne Murray (Preacher's oldest son) and I took our motorcycles across coutry in Aug 1996. I met grandfather's other sister then. Her name is Janice Parsley Kennedy. She lived in Redlands California and had for a long time.
I was stuck trying to find their parents for a while. Mom remembered when she lived in Nashville that they visited Aunt Ish and Robert. Then I was able to find Moses E Parsley and Pansy Marigold Crook. Their parents were Alexander Barton Parsley, Elizabeth J Ferrell and Henry Baird "Dock" Crook, Mattie Edmunds. Both Moses and Pansy died early, though I haven't found the records for that. Grandfather then went to a Baptist orphanage after they died.
I have an page at ancestry.com that I've been building for a few months and found some letters and other family members who had a lot of research. I have the names of Parsleys back to William Parsley (b about 1720) and John Parsley (b 1751). John came to US in 1774.
