Pratchey HATTON, Cherokee, was the Cherokee woman with whom Richard PEARIS had a relationship and a child/children including a son namned George during his marriage to his wife, Rhoda. Whether or not Pratchey and Richard were actually married in any type of Cherokee ceremony, I do not know, but they did have a personal relationship.

Pratchey HATTON is a distant relative of mine through John "Trader" HATTON who descends from John "Immigrant" HATTON who immigrated in 1613 on the ship, "TEASORER," from England into Jamestown. He lived in the Elizabeth City area until moving across the river into Norfolk County. John HATTON was a ship owner/ship builder and his descendants lived in the Norfolk County, Virginia area for 150 years before descendants migrated further south. Pratchey HATTON's mother was a descendant of Cherokee Chief Moytoy.

For whatever reason, perhaps to assure that she was cared for in her older years or for whatever other reasons, Richard PEARIS gave Pratchey HATTON to his daughters, Sarah and Margaret, in his will.

Sincerely,

Bellinda Myrick-Barnett
