Anne Parris, mother of Samuel and Thomas Parris?
The more information I get, the more confused I get.
In my accumulated papers, I have a will of Anne Parris of St. Mary Islington, in the County of Middlesex, "wife to Thomas Parris now or late at the Island of Barbadoes beyond the seas merchant, 9 June 1665, proved 10 June 1665."I missed the implication that this was Thomas, the brother of John Parris, of Barbadoes until I came across a book review of ROAD TO ENDOR, by Ester Barstow Hammond. This is a biography in novel form of Samuel Parris, the minister in Salem Village during the witchcraft trials. This book is fiction based on historical fact and research.I have no idea how reliable the historical facts are concerning this Samuel Parris, but the book states that "His father, Thomas Parris, was a merchant; his mother, Anne Parris, had married below her station... Samuel Parris was born in 1653... When he was seven his father went to Barbadoes to manage a plantation that Thomas Parris had inherited from his brother.Anne Parris and the children stayed behind; the family was never reunited. She died in 1665 in one of the outbreaks of the black death."
Does anyone have documented evidence that these statments are true?
