Margaret Mary Parnell was born about 1828 in Fermoy, County Cork, Ireland, and married Edmund Arnold. They lived in Arichat, Nova Scotia and had 10 children. Four daughters later lived in Massachusetts, and some sons are said to have moved to Australia. Daughter Margaret Eleanor Arnold married Capt. Marty Welch of Gloucester.
