Does anyone recognize the name "JOHN FARRELL PARKMAN."
I am grasping at straws, and wondered if any one, in your genealogy, might have a John Farrell Parkman. My gr. gr. grandmother Mary Jane Caraway married a Parkman. The problem is she was married before him and had one child William.Married name unknown.Just recently a scrap of paper has surfaced in a Barwick bible that has the name John Farrell Parkman on it.Mary Jane was born and raised in Bassfield,Covington Co., Ms., Now Jeff Davis Co.One of the problems is the first husband died before 1870.The boy was born in 1866. Cannot find her on the 1870. On the 1880 census she is listed as Mary Jane Parkman with two dtrs. by him, Cynthia and Fannie or Frances Lee.Parkman has already died.It says her first husband was born in Tennessee and Parkman in Mississippi. As you can see I have no name for the first husband and an assumed given name for Parkman, on this scrap of paper.Fannie, my great grandmother married a Samuel Barwick. The scrap of paper was found in her dtr.-in laws bible after the dtr.- in-laws death, in 1974.
Mary Jane Caraway was born about 1848 in Bassfield, Ms. and died in Houston in 1934.After Parkman she married a White. His first name also unknown. So you see I have a lot of unknowns.
Also on this piece of paper are the names.....
Clint King, Bassfield, Ms..........and Sam King.
Dr.Willie Applewhite or Clyde his son.
What looks like Dr Blunt or Blount.
(Willie Estes in Bassfield................
Mc Clain.
Hester Clark was postmistress, married Oates.
None of the above paragraph makes any sense to me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
