I have acquired a very nice photo of John Parkhurst circa 1920 from an antique shop in Iowa. The back of the card is remarqued in handwriting that purports to be John Parkhurst himself. It reads: "I was born in Washtenaw County, Michigan in 1833. This picture was taken in Charlotte, Mich. in 1920. Major John D. Parkhurst. I was in the Civil War 4 years and 8 months."

I located John Parkhurst in the 1850 Federal Census in Washtenaw County, Michigan. He is listed as the son of Abel and Lydia (Brown?) Parkhurst b. 1805 and 1803 respectively. John is also found in several other Federal Census listings all the way into the 1920's mostly in Charlotte, Mich.

I'm willing to provide an email jpeg copy of the image to any interested reader and would like to put the original back into the hands of a Parkhurst family member. Please contact me at the indicated email.
