I am Laurel Park w/o John Sr. Polk Co. Wi. He had two Park grandparents. Olive Park and Willis Park. Their grandfathers were Alfred and Amos Park s/o Samuel Park of West Virginia. Alfred and Amos left for Ohio with sister Rhoda Burkett and brothers Timmothy and Samuel in the 1830's and had families (several members of which then migrated on into the Polk Co. Wi. area.) J.W. Park s/o Amos donated the land in Balsam Lake for the streets and court house moving the co. seat to his hometown. Alfred's son Jacob had eight childern with six of his sons who at one time or another also lived in Polk Co. and built the Balsam Lake shcool and the Polk Co. Fair Grandstand (which still stands and is used). I have copies of pictures of these families as well the deeds they used to donate land to the city and co.
I know that Rhoda and Samuel moved on to Mo. Anyone know Why? I have very little info on Samuel. I have pic of Wash Park and the death folder from one of Jefferson's daughters but little else on these brothers that Jacob's sons wrote to and I have correspondace from.
I do not know what happened to Alfred/Amos's sisters Elizabeth Myers, Anne or Susannah Park.
J.W. had 6 sisters and his cousin Jacob had 2 most of whom I have been able to dig out of the Crawford Co. Ohio 1895 U.S. atlas (a most useful book). However, I am still short two. From the book are relitives by surname Seery, Harper, Foy, Mcloughlin, Stoltz and Meyers. I am not sure which (J.W./Jacob) was brother-in-law to Harper but I do know there is a connection.
