Hello Pam, I found your post on the geneology.com site when i was looking up Parisi info. My great-great-grandmother was a Parisi. (my name is Zambanini which was changed in the USA to ZambEnini in the early 1900's by officials) I have been to our little village in Trentino in the Valley of Giudicarie (val di giudicarie) 6X since '85 - i noticed your post immediatly because you mentioned the Parisi/Litterini pairing! These 2 names are both found in our tiny valley in the alps of Italy (at one time austro hungarian empire) mostly in the villages of Villa Banale and Premione. Do you know what YEAR your Bartolo came to the US? and how old he was when he came here? This is helpful for looking up ellisisland.org records. what was Elvira's maiden name? and do you know their marraige date? Did they have any children IN italy? I am convinced this is where your Parisi's must be from because of this pairing of names! I am friends with Valter Litterini who runs the Bellavista hotel in Villa Banale. His mother was a Parisi. I am not sure if you know but the name Parisi is extremely common thruout italy - but Litterini is not. Had you not mentioned Litterini your parisis could hv been from Sicily or just about anywhere in Italy! Check out these maps: Litterini: http://66.221.136.107/it/cognomi/gif.html?cognome=LITTERINI&k=FF&t=cognomi&s=L Parisi: http://66.221.136.107/it/cognomi/gif.html?cognome=PARISI&k=FF&t=cognomi&s=P Here is a map of our Valley - you will see on it Villa Banale and Premione. my family (Zambanini) is from Sclemo on the hill geographically above Premione probably only 500 yards away - every thing is walking distance here: http://www.unitn.it/trentino/valligif/Comano.jpg I am currently emailing with a guy in Washington state whose mother was a Parisi from Premione - i had mentioned to him that my great great g.m. was a Parisi - i have never really researched the Parisi side - but basically eveyone in our little valley is distantly related - there are only a few names here: Zambanini, Parisi, Litterini, Fedrizzi, Zanetti, Morelli, Castagnari, Contrini, Flaim, Di Pre, Merli .....etc... We are all intermarried and related. Here is my webpage: http://cloud.prohosting.com/lzambeni/homepage/lzambeni1_fr.html Please write if you have any details about your Parisi side - you could be related to the guy in Washington State i mentioned! I am just this week looking at marraige records from our valley on Microfilm that i ordered at the FHC of the Mormon church here ( i am NOT a morman but they make it available to anyone who wants to order them). I will be looking for Parisi's also so maybe i can find yours and your Littterini's. Here is a website for Valter(Walter) Litterini's hotel in villa banale (has nice pix of our valley on it): http://web.tiscali.it/hotelbellavista/ Here are the pages of the Paginebianche.it with the parisi in Stenico and its "frazioni" : http://paginebianche.virgilio.it/pb/cerca?btt=1&cg=Parisi&no=&dv=stenico&x=0&y=0 I just did a search on ellisisland.org for your Bartolo Parisi - no matches - except i think maybe he was transcribed as BORTOLO Parisi from Ponte delle Arche (just over the hill from Villa Banale and Premione) on the ellisisland site. Ponte Arche is another town in our valley. The date he came is Oct. 18, 1913 and it says he was 22 yo. - which would mean he was born about 1892 as you said (frequently the ages are not exact on ellisisland site). It says he was coming to visit a Cousin Giuseppe Parisi in Force/Weedville, PA. Here is the manifest: http://www.ellisisland.org/search/shipManifest.asp?MID=06833559550027800064&FNM=BORTOLO&LNM=PARISI&PLNM=PARISI&RF=2&pID=100772170334&lookup=100772170334&show=H%3A%5CT715%2D2201%5CT715%2D22010064%2ETIF&origFN=H%3A%5CT715%2D2201%5CT715%2D22010063%2ETIF Well hope this helps!
