Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will

I am so excited to hear from someone, particularly in Sicily! I have so many questions! About how old are the Rocco and Guiseppe of whom you speak? How is it that you write in English so well? My grandfather, Guiseppe Parisi, was born in Serro in November 1893 or 94. His Father was Rocco from Ali. They came to America in 1901. Are Ali & Serro near each other? Rocco's father was Philip. Family names are Rocco, Phillip, Joseph, John, Salvatore, Natalina (?), Antoinette, Magdalena. Tradition dictated that the first son and daughter from each family be named after the paternal grandparents, so we have many Rocco, Philips, and Josephs. Do you think you or your family may be related somehow? I understand many records in Sicily were destroyed during the wars and the area around Messina has been completely rebuilt over the last 50 to 60 years. Do you know if there is anyway to check birth, death or marriage certificates from the 1800's over there? I look forward to hearing from you.
