Henry Paris m Catherine Tyler 1836/Glos.UK/Canada/US
I am trying to locate descendants of the above couple.Henry Paris (b. Glos.1809 d.Mich 1873)married Catherine Tyler (b.Leicestershire 1815 d.Mich 1909).They had nine children as follows:
1. Lucy Paris
2. John Tyler Paris (b.1841, d.1864 in Civil War)
3. William Paris (moved to Texas after Civil War)
4. Mary Kate Paris (b.1844 d. 1938)m. Gilber Roger Sherman (my great grandparents)
5. Stuart Paris (died of yellow fever after release from prisoner of war camp during Civil War)
6. James Paris (moved to Minneapolis, one son, Phil Paris listed)
7. Elizabeth Owen Paris (b.1850)m. Hugh Park, five children
8. Alfred Paris b. London, Ontario, two sons listed: Ben & Hal Paris
9. Joseph Paris b. London Ontario, moved to Washington State, two children listed: Catherine Paris and Henry Paris
I have more information, but basically, Henry Paris and Catherine Tyler married in Liverpool.Henry Paris had a chain of tea stores, the price of tea went down a farthing, so they emigrated to Canada in the 1850s, where their last two children were born. They moved to Detroit about 1860, just in time for at least two of their sons to enlist in the Union Army.Later they lived in Jackson, Michigan and Muskegon, Michigan, where my great grandparent lived.Henry Paris died in Detroit, Catherine Tyler Paris spent her later years with her daughter, Mary Kate Paris Sherman, in Muskegon, Michigan.
I believe that Alfred and Joseph moved to Minneapolis sometime after the Civil War, where they established a candy/chocolate company.I have a photo of them, and somehow got names of children, but no wives listed. My notes say that Joseph later moved to Washington State.
I have more information about the early Paris family and also the Tylers, and I have Henry Paris's father's Bible from 1797, listing Henry and all his siblings.
Do any of these names ring any bells for anyone?I don't have much more information, but will be happy to share what I have.
Thanks!
Helen Sherman
