Parham Family Genealogy Forum
Thank you for such a quick response! You are correct in stating I have found my "Ben". He was, in fact a slave of the Parham family but the name "PEOPLES",we THOUGHT, was just a name he liked, when, in fact, it seems he could have had some relationship with this "WILLIAM C. PEOPLES" family. My BEN is NOT Benjamin M. Parham. He is BENJAMIN PEOPLES. He was in Arkansas at the time of emancipation ( I believe. As you know, emancipation happened in 1865 but there was not another U.S. Census until 1870). I know my Ben lived in close proximity to John Parham after emancipation because I have explored the census data in St. Francis county, Arkansas. Now, I am curious about this William C. Peoples because my Ben took the name Peoples after he was freed. This PEOPLES name comes up in connection with the Parham family tree. I BELIEVE this is more than a coincidence! Cassie, I hope this makes clear what I am questioning. Please email me at this email address. I would love to speak, in person, with you. I could phone you or provide my number so you could phone me. Thanking you in advance for ANY help you can provide! ~Sharon
