Hi Bessie,
I went on Ancestry and when I could not find a William Stewart in Polk Co. AR. 1840,I checked my "Handy Book for Genealogists" It tells me Polk Co. was not formed until 1844 from Sevier Co. AR. The Only Stewart's I found in 1840 Arkansas were:
William Stewart, Carroll Co. AR
John W. Stewart, Izard Co AR
William Stewart, Scott Co. AR and another William Stewart.
Can you give me your source for the information you have for a William Stewart in 1840 Polk Co. AR? Thanks.
Clovis.
