Seeking males especially with the PARDUE surname with ancestry in the Southern United States to participate in the Perdue/Pardue/Purdue DNA project with the objective of trying to establish the origin of the ancestry of John Perdue/Pardue who died in 1769 in Bute Co. NC and to establish, if any, kinship with other Amelia/Chesterfield/Henrico County VA Pardue/Perdues who lived in the 1700s, the area where the first records with the surname appears in the Southern USA. http://worldfamilies.net/surnames/p/perdue/ Most of the Pardue surnamed individuals in the Southern USA descend from the above John Perdue(Pardue)although some of his descendents also spell their name as Perdue or Purdue, its phonetic sound; however, many Perdues also descend from the above mentioned Chesterfield/Henrico Co. VA and it appears from the DNA project, so far, that there is a genetic connection between the Amelia Co. and the Chesterfield/ Henrico Co. Perdues. Some of those descendents also spell their name Pardue. What is known, also, at this time from the Perdue/Pardue DNA project is that the Perdue lines of descent that originated in Maryland have no kinship with the Amelia/Chesterfild/Henrico VA Perdues. However, the Pardue/Perdue/Purdue project has still been unable to develop a DNA profile of that John Perdue(Pardue) with the several Pardue/Perdue males who have submitted their DNA for testing or for the profile of the one participant who claims descent from a William Perdue of Chesterfield Co. VA. Especially looking for Pardue/Perdue males who have several generations of their Pardue/Perdue family lines located in Tennessee, Texas, Kentucky, South Carolina, Louisana, Georgia, North Carolina, Indiana, Illinois; but also all others in all other states and/or countries would be appreciated, since the Pardue/Perdue/Purdue population has now moved all over the place. Only the male line with surname Pardue/Perdue/Purdue with its Y chromosome can be effectively tested. Remembering your high school biology classes you know that the male Y chromosome is the chromosome that determines the sex of a child, since the X combines with the two Xs in the female one, leaving the Y chromosome to perpetuate itself thru the male line and yDNA should correspond with every male of the same name, if there has been no adoption or other event that would interupt the bloodline. If the yDNA and the surname matches with other male individuals with the same yDNA and surname, then kinship is certain in 99% of those tested. Those are great scientific odds! It is done with a swab of the saliva from the inside of the mouth, which the above website explains. By participating in the group project, the group rate will apply, reducing the cost considerably. Any female with the Pardue/Perdue/Purdue surname might consider seeing if a brother, cousin, father, grandfather, uncle or other KNOWN Pardue/Perdue/Purdue male relative owning that surname might consent to the DNA test. With enough participants and luck we will be able to augment the paper trails and where paper trails do not exist at present, perhaps, to establish them. Sorry, about the length of this message and hope that is clear as to who and what is needed. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will see if I can find the answers. Thanks for any and all help and participation in this project. Ann Pardue parduetree@prodigy.net Notify Administrator about this message?
