Hi Pardue/Perdue Listers,
This is an update on the Perdue/Pardue(etc) DNA project and a request for your participation. Only males who DIRECTLY
descend from a male Pardue/Perdue(etc) carry the Perdue Y chromosome that is tested to determine blood relationships. The project home page with current results and instructions on how to participate, as well as links to understanding how DNA testing works, is at the following.

Results already show that the Perdue line that originated on the eastern shore of MD does NOT share a common ancestor with the VA/NC Perdue lines. Participants from 3 different sons of John Perdue,1725 MD, have been tested matching 25/25, thereby establishing the DNA PROFILE of that John Perdue.
At this time there are two(2) participants who have a paper trail back to the early WILLIAM PERDUE OF CHESTERFIELD CO., VA. These 2 participants match 12/12 markers, but need to upgrade to 37 markers(Family Tree DNA had discontinued the 25 marker test and lowered the $ of the 37 marker test)since 12 marker tests rarely show an accurate picture of blood relationships. In the case of the MD Perdues and the VA Perdues, 12 markers DID show there was no blood relationship within a genealogical time frame since the first 12 markers of the MD Perdues did NOT closely match the other participants who trace their lines to VA.
There has been one(1) participant who traces his line back to BEVIL PERDUE a son of old JOHN PERDUE of AMELIA,VA and BUTE(WARREN),NC. We NEED participation of descendants from at least 2 other sons of old John to compare with the DNA of Bevil's descendant in order to accurately determine the DNA PROFILE of old JOHN OF AMELIA, in case one line has an adoption or non Perdue paternal event, interfering with the direct Perdue bloodline.
When the DNA profile of WILLIAM PERDUE of CHESTERFIELD is established and the profile of JOHN PERDUE of AMELIA/BUTE is established, we then can know if these 2 EARLY VA PERDUE LINES are indeed connected by a common ancestor. This infomation can make tracing these Perdue lines back across the pond easier.
There have been 3 OTHER PERDUE descendants tested whose results do NOT match any of the above lines, nor each other at this time. These participants should find other Perdue descendants from their lines to participate in order to determine how they fit into the various Perdue families.
DNA testing is the most accurate way to place your Perdue line to an early Perdue ancestor in a given location. Even without a paper trail, if your DNA (or the DNA of your brother, father, cousin) matches the DNA profile of one of the early Perdues of MD or VA, you will know from which group of Perdues you descend. There are male Perdue/Pardues on this list who descend from different sons of William of Chesterfield and John of Amelia. Please pool your money and participate to either verify your claim of descent or correct your claim. This can save you time in tracing your Perdue lineage.
