John Paradise Land Bounty

According to Bureau of Land Management - Government Land Office Records, on 1 July 1818 a certain John Paradise was granted a Military Bounty of 160 acres in Sec. 14, Twp 7, Rng 5 Territory of IL, for having served as "a Private in Cummings Company, 4th Regiment of Infantry". Can anyone tell me about this man and the Unit he served with? What State was the Unit from? Was it a War of 1812 outfit?
Many Thanks,
Tom Knight
