Louis Rock and marguerite Paquin are surounded in mystery. He was supposedly born at sea on a whaling ship in about 1794, and there is some supporting data. But then there is also data supporting a birth date of 1809' He is conventionally believed to have married in 1834, but then there is some data supporting 1828. His first child is believed by some to have been a boy, but then in our family it was a girl. They had moved about 1734 to the Elgin county in southern Ontario, Canada, but then moved to Michigan and finally settled in Ludington Michigan where they died and are buried. His life was like a fairy story of participating in the War of 1812, fur trading and trapping, and narrow escapes from indian war parties to trapping in Yellowstone park about 1815 for nearly 10 years. That would have been befor Coulter explored the area. There is some vague data that could support that as well. His descendents are split between Ontario and primaily Michigan. Some believe his wife is indian, and that ay be supportable as some descndents in Michigan have indian status, and he and Marguerite are written up complete with pictures in the Indian section of the white Pines Museum in Ludington. She does look indian.
