Hi Reggie and everyone,
I did see the 1892 marriage church records for Arsene Paquin and Exilda (Alida) Reid and that is where the info about Arsene being the widow of Hermine Gervais comes from.. unfortunately, the records didn't mention Arsene's parents and I have been searching for a long time..
Exilda who married Arsene is more often seen as Alida in many Bromptonville church records but it is the same person..
Do you have the baptism records of Jesse Arsene, born Apr. 12, 1889 in Vershire (could it be Bershire?)and what exactly does it say? I find it very promising to discover that Hermine Gervais had a child..
It does seem like the same names are repeating a few times here and I would like very much to sort it out.. In the absence of the marriage records for 'your' Jesse Arsene Paquin and Alida Ida Reid, I really do wonder if these 2 couples (the other one being Arsene and Exilda m. 1892)are not one and the same except that Exilda (Alida)Reid (m.1892) was said to be 20 in the census of 1891 so she would have been born in or about 1871 and not 1878 like your Alida.. If you could give me the source of your info regarding your Jesse Arsene and Alida Ida, maybe I can take it from there..
I realize that this posting is a bit difficult to follow and I apologize for that.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to help
note: I do have baptism records for Arsene Paquin and Hermine Gervais right in the area that I would expect to find the ones I am looking for but I need more to prove that they are the same people
What a puzzle!!
