Joseph/Manitoba Paquins, circa 1700/1800

I am attempting to trace the lineage of Joseph Paquin who married a Cree lady in "the custom of the country" before 1800.They had two children. A daughter, Madeleine, who married Eduard Herman on June 8, 1829, in St. Boniface, Manitoba, and a son,Joseph, who was born about 1800 in Beaver Creek, and was married twice. His first wife was Josephte Decoteaux, and the second was Marie Lapointe. There seems to be a mystery about this line of Paquins, for it seems that others are searching, with no success. Does anyone know if Joseph Sr. immigrated himself, or was a descendant of immigrants? Any information would be appreciated. There appears to be no end to the connections between the Paquins in the East, but very little in the West.
