Michael,

I have a Perkins family just south of Burlington VT from the mid to late 1800s. The immigrant was Augustus Perkins who was b. Quebec 1823. His parents were Joseph and Julie [Birer/Boivin/Bivier - difficult to read in the records]. I'm quite sure that the name was changed to Perkins from a French name - Paquin? Paquette? Paquet? In VT records, it is often spelled Poiken before it is standardized as Perkins. So far, I haven't been able to find Augustus' birth or the marriage of Joseph and Julie. I certainly can't identify a connection with your Julie, but maybe.......
