Carol, That is interesting. My grandmother used to say that her father was "Black Dutch". His paternal family has been traced back to Ireland. His mother was Mary Jane Panter, daughter of Calvin Panter. This may be where the Black Dutch origins come from. Information I have seen on line suggests that the term is ambiguous, possibly refering to Dutch, German, Native American, etc.
