I was interested to see your posting on Jediah Pannell. I can't tell you how he fits in with William Pannell, Sr. and Lucinda, but I think I may have a couple of clues for you.

First of all you can eliminate the William in 1860 Pontotoc Co., MS as he was the son of Zachariah Pannell. Zachariah was a son of William Pannell, Jr. who died in 1812, Fairfield Co., SC.

There are two Fairfield Co. S C deeds in which I have found Jediah/Jedediah mentioned.

1. Book O, pages 318-9 3 Dec 1802, Ferdinand Hopkins to Wm. Pannell, Jr. Jediah Pannell with Anderson Pannell were witness.

2. Book R pages 96-7 21 Aug 1806 Jediah Pannell et al to Israel Seymore, Jr.
This one is quite long and mentions a number of persons, among them: Jediah, Wiliam Pannell, Jr.,Mary Seymour, Sr., Benjamin Pannell, Romantizer Seymour.

If you decide to send to SC Archives for the second one, you will need to ask for Isaiah Pannell et al, as that is how it is listed in their index, or was when I got it a few years ago. The handwriting really does look like Isaiah, but close study and having the name repeated throughout convinced me that it was not Isaiah but was Jediah. His signature at the end looks like Jee or Jed.

If you want to email me your address, I would be happy to mail you a copy of my transcription and a bit of the deed although it is very hard to get a good photocopy of deeds. I transcribed the deeds on an old word processor and have not changed them to this computer, so cannot email to you.

Let me know if I can help you. Sorry, I don't know the relationship but believe it is close, also that there was a direct relationship with the Seymore/Seymour/Zaymore family.
