Perhaps you have already solved your problem and know all you need to know. But just in case you haven't as yet, Celia or Cely Pannell, also spelled Selah in 1870, was remarried in 1864 to Berry Hamrick, his second wife. She died in 1873 and Berry married a third time. Children with Berry were Gatheria, Theo Plato, Adron, Arrie Estella and Patricia Ida. Most of this information is from a short history written some years ago by S.C. Hamrick, but some I have found in Census records.

You might want to check Civil War records to see if Jefferson Ramsey was in the service and possibly died in the war.

Martin Pannell, father of Cely, was the son of William Pannell, Jr. of Fairfield Co. SC who died about 1809 or 1810. Some of the NC family believed they were descended from an earlier Martin from France, but the records do not bear that out.

There is an extensive estate settlement for William Pannell, Jr. in SC Archives who died intestate. His wife was Elizabeth, their 8 children were named in order: Simeon, Barbry, Ester, Zachariah, William Semor, Thomas, Dove and Martin.

Dove appeared in Rutherford Co. NC at about the same time as Martin in Cleveland Co. The sisters are unaccounted for to my knowledge. The other 4 brothers went to Pontotoc Co., MS, although Zachariah stopped over in GA for a few years before going to MS.

These are first cousins to my Pannell ancestors, so they have always interested me.

I hope this is of some use to you.

Sarah Price
