Hi Jami,
You have two Pannell lines. Charlie's father was John Lee Pannell(Johnny) his mother Leila Cox. Mr. Johnny's father was William Henry "Billy" Pannell his mother was Ellen Tarpley. Mr. Billy's father was William J. Pannell his mother was Catherine Wages, they married 4 Sep 1856 in Old Pontotoc Co. MS in the part that was later Union Co. MS Their place of birth was South Carolina, but that is as far back as I have been able to trace them. Catherine was probably the daughter of Margaret, a widow, the two of them lived with James and Harriett Wages in 1850.

William J. evidently died soon after 1860 as Catherine remarried Edward Morgan and they moved to lower Pontotoc Co. or to Chickasaw Co., MS. They had at least one daughter, Loutisha. The two sons of William J. and Catherine, William Henry and James S. eventually moved back to Union Co. MS

Mrs. Leila Pannell, Chatlie's mother was daughter of William Levi Cox and Nancy Elizabeth Roberts. William Levi was son of Levi Cox and Amanda Pannell. Levi was son of Rowland Cox. The Cox family lived in Tippah Co. MS.

Amanda was daughter of David A. Pannell and Mary J. Coggin. David was son of Anderson Pannell of Fairfield Co. SC, Anderson was son of William Pannell, Sr. of Fairfield Co. SC.

David and Mary J.Pannell were in Old Pontotoc Co. by 1840.

Good hunting and good luck.

Sarah Price
