Debbie, you might want to consider Benjamin Pannell as father of John. In 1850 Pontotoc Co., MS Census he was age 28, Jane 27, Andrew 9, Daniel 6, James 4, Margaret 1. He does not appear in 1860 but was listed as serving in Confederate Army until end of the war. In 1870 Tippah Co. Jane 47 was head of house, children Caroline 21, Nancy C. 19, Luke 16, Johnny 13 and M.A.E. 10(female)
In 1880 Union Co. living next door to your John was Jane 59, Margaret 29, Elizabeth 20 gr children Lou 9, Lee 6, Benjamin 2 and Marion R. 3. a boy. Sorry I can go no further back, have never been able to connect Benjmin with other Pannells in 1850. Good luck,
Sarah Price
