Joseph & Margaret (nee Stiller) Pankratz came to New Zealand as servants of Captain Martin & Emily Krippner on the "Lord Burleigh" departing London on 18th. Nov. 1859 and arrived in Auckland 22nd. march 1860. After a short time at Orewa the Pankratz moved to Matakana. Five daughters were born to them Joseph died in Auckland hospital 22/7/1871 aged 38 when his youngest daughter was 5 months old. Margaret moved to Puhoi and in 1874 remarried to William Robert Scriven. They lived on the farm on the Puhoi side of the cemetery. A photo of Margaret hangs in the Puhoi hall. The five daughters were Elizabeth born 7/1/1862; Amelia born 29/12/1863; Mary Ann born 21/12/1865; Margaret born 2/9/1868; & theresia born24/2/1871; I kow that Emelia Married Harry Lees becoming my great grandperants but that is a contining story. This info can be verified at the Puhoi Museum.
