John,
The Pankow family data that I have, I obtained from LDS microfilms for the towns of Petersdorf, Mechlenberg-Strelitz; Conow, Mechlenberg; and Thomsdorf, Brandenberg. Although these are three different provinces the towns are not remote from each other. Petersdorf is 11.6 miles north of Conow and Thomsdorf is only 2.7 miles south of Conow. To get some idea if our families have a possibility of connecting I went to the "jewishgen" website to locate Penzin and to determine its' proximity to Petersdorf.
Thewebsite is: "http://www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/
I found three likely candidates. One 35.5 miles north of Petersdorf, one 71.4 miles NW, and one 74.4 miles W of Petersdorf. The closest one is spelled "Pensin". To establish a family connection I think we'd have to find one of your ancesters in Petersdorf or one of mine in Penzin/Pensin. I have checked my data and find none of the names you've mentioned. I'll list what I know of my family so that you can check it against your data.
My 2nd great grandfather was Joachim ( Jochen) Christian Andreas Pankow, oldest son of Christian. Joachim married Johanna Dorothea Sophia Kruger on 30 October 1829 in Petersdorf, Mechlenberg-Strelitz. They had six childrenn among them my great grandfather Johann Friedrich Christian Pankow, born 7 April 1832 in Petersdorf. He married Friederice Christine Wilhelmine Koehler on 23 October 1857 in Conow, Mechlenberg. They had nine children among them my grandmother Henriette Wilhelmine Caroline Pankow, born 25 January 1862 in Conow. Johann brought his family to the USA in 1866. Have no record of where they landed but find them listed inthe Detroit City directory in 1868 along with some of the Koehler family. I assume the two fdamilies came over together. My grandmother died on 9 March 1925, about six months before I was born, so I didn't know her. My Dad's cousin, Edward C. Pankow founded the Pankow Fuel Co. in Detroit, and another cousin, John C. Pankow was sales director of the Detroit-Michigan Stove Company and served as commodore of the Detroit Yacht Club. I never knew either of these men.
I have the names of my ancestor's siblings if you think that would aid you. Let me konw.
Good luck,
Don
