Panama 1850s Garabini, Garobini, Garobenia, Garabemia and variants

I am looking for a stray ancestor who we believe may have resided in Panama in 1850-70 period. Joseph Garabini was born in 1800 in Italy but lived and married in the United States. He and his family are found in the 1850 US census in Harrison, Mississippi. After that he disappears for many years then reappears once in 1865 in New Jersey and again in 1885 in New Jersey. There is a land transaction in New Jersey that refers to him as Archibald D Y Garobini of Aspinwall or Colon. There is also a record of a 16 year Mary Garabini (US born) traveling from Aspinwall to New York in 1859 who we believe is his daughter. Her name may also have been Angelina. He had several other children who may have accompanied him to Panama, including a younger Joseph, Louisa, Josephine, Emma, and possibly a Gordon. His American born wife Mary Jane (nee Tichenor) may have been there as well. It is possible that Garabini worked as an engineer. Any information that Panama genealogists may have that could have bearing on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Harold Tichenor htichenor@crescent.ca
