Albert LISE/LISER; Martinique>Panama before 1924

My grandfather, Albert Toussaint Liser, was born in Lemartin, Martinique on Novemebr 1, 1896 to Christine Liser (born circa 1877). I do not know when he left Martinique but he told the family that he left as a young man to work on the Panama Canal. He arrived in Baltimore, MD from the Canal Zone in approximately 1923. Is there a list anywhere of the Canal workers during this time frame? I've searched the Internet but have found nothing. Also, any idea how I could find out (from Martinique) when he left for Panama?
