Further research makes me wonder if Mary Pamplin Smith was born in Amherst County or Buckingham County and not Campbell County. I still have not found her marriage record however I have found that her third child William, born in 1842 was married in Amherst County to Amanda N. Webb and indicated place of birth as Amherst County. Her fourth child Alice V. Smith who married David Wright of Appomattox in Lynchburg in 1867 lists on her marriage record Amherst as being her place of birth. The second son John Issac Smith who was born in 1841 married in Lynchburg in 1865 to Sarah Crumpton lists Buckingham County as place of birth. At this point I have not been able to determine what happened to the oldest son George A. Smith so I don't know his place of birth.
If anyone has any insight into this particular Mary, I would appreciate the help.
