How nice to hear of other Pammetts -- WITH the 2 Ms and 2Ts, no less! I've also seen other variations on the spelling, as I'm sure have all of you. On Cape Cod, near our home in Groton, Massachusetts, there is even a river with our name - sorta - the "Pamet River".
My name is Kevin Gene Pammett. My wife Lynn, and I live here in Groton, Massachusetts, with two daughters who are in middle school, Jillian Gaye and Emily Jean, named after other people in my immediate family - my Mom, and my sister, Gaye Elaine Pammett (1950 - 1980).
As you can read from "The Pammett Family Home Page" ( http://webpages.charter.net/thepammett/ ) I was born in Peterborough, Ontario, in 1951; went to the University of Waterloo, and moved to the United States in 1977. My wife and I also lived in Paris, France, for 3 years in the early 80s where the only ones of "us" in the phone book were "Pammette".
I grew up in Peterborough, Ontario, with my Dad, Harold Percy ("Dutch") Pammett (1920 - 1981) and my Mom, Jean Audrey (nee Carter) Pammett, who died in 2000 having lived the last 20 years of her life in Belleville, Ontario. They both lived in the Peterborough area their entire lives. My Dad's career centered around Tilco Plastics Ltd, in Peterborough. There's more of my life story on our web pages, including living in Mexico City and in Geneva, Switzerland, and "growing up on Pigeon Lake" near Bobcageon, Ontario.
My oldest sister, Nancy, changed her last name to Phelan when she married Arthur in 1974. They live in Ottawa. My only brother, John Hickey, lives on the Mississippi River near Perth Ontario. Born in 1941, Johnny kept his last name because "the Pammetts" didn't come along until after the 2nd World War. We all grew up together on the Chemung road just outside of Peterborough, Ontario.
As far as the older generation, all that's left with the name "Pammett" that I'm aware of is my uncle, Gord Pammett, who has lived with his wife Glenora in London, Ontario for the last several decades.
