I'm finding this sort of "wishful thinking" in genealogical recording through out my tree. The records I began with many years ago were all done by my relatives in the first half of the twentieth century. (the old fashioned way.) They give Deliverance Palmer as wife of John Sheldon, b.1663 and her parents as George Palmer and Bethia Apphia Mowry.
In looking deeper into this Palmer picture I have verified the child of Deliverance and John Sheldon as William, b.1716. William Sheldon m. 1737, Rebecca Rhodes and my ancestor through them is Deliverance Sheldon, b. 1740, who most likely was named after her grandmother? But, whether this grandmother was Deliverance "Palmer" remains to be seen. The Sheldon Family website lists our John Sheldon but shows no wife?
I have verified William Sheldon m. Rebecca Rhodes, and their daughter Deliverance through the book: Descendants of Roger Williams, Waterman and Winsor Line, and am a life member of The Roger Williams Family Association.
Yep, this is still a head scratcher, but I shant give up the search. :-)
