The 1880 US census (online at FamilySearch) gives a Thomas Pallister, farmer aged 28 of Woodlawn, Monroe County, Missouri, born New York, whose father was born in England and whose mother was born in New York. With him are his brother and sister, James and Cora, his wife Sarah aged 22, born Missouri, as were her parents. In the same household, were his children, Sarah J (age 6), Martha (age 4) and Julia (age 8 months). In another house in Woodlawn, was Marelda Pallister, a widow farmer aged 43, born Missouri but her parents were born Kentucky, and her children, John (age 11) and Henry (age 7) whose dead father was born in New York, so who was probably a borther of Thomas. Could this be your man?
