Was he Englishman John Palfrey (Pelfrey) or Frenchman John Ramey (Remy)?
Was he Englishman John Palfrey (Pelfrey) or Frenchman John Ramey (Remy)?
Triangulation is a term used in many different situations tocome at a problem from three different directions in order to find a resolution. In the case of JOHN of Henry County, VA who lived between about 1740 and 1804 the triangulation would entail the testing of the YDNA of male descendants bearing the surname of Palfrey, Pelfrey, Pelphrey, Pelfree, etc. and descending from three of the sons of JOHN. There were five known sons which mathematically enhances the number of descendants to contribute to the YDNA solution.
The sons were William, John Jr., Joseph, James, and Thomas who scattered out from VA around 1800. So far, YDNA results from two of the sons, Joseph and Thomas, point to JOHN being a Ramey unless Joseph and Thomas were adopted.
Thus far I seem to be about the only one sticking my neck out to suggest such a drastic turn in the search for the lineage of JOHN. Surely, with all the famous, infamous, and ordinary folk bearing my surname, I can't be the only one who finds this perplexing, but solvable.
