My great-grandfather came to the U.S. when he was 17. Once in the U.S., he refused to speak Italian and never mentioned which town he was from in Italy. About ten years ago, my grandfather received a letter from one of my great-grandfather's relatives in Italy but threw it away because it was written in Italian and he didn't understand it. (Is it my family, or are all Palermo men stubborn?) My grandfather is a dear man but cannot help me any more than he has because his father never spoke of his past. Here is all that I know: My great-grandfather (Salvatore Palermo) was born August 21, 1888 (died in December, 1972) He was married to Mandalena Panzica in the early 1900's. They had three children (Margarita, Carlo, and Marietta). After Mandalena died of Bubonic Plague, he married my great-grandmother Antonina Nocera (who was from Jamestown, NY). They had Antonio and my grandfather Salvatore. Do any of you have information on my family?
