I do not know whether someone will find this information interesting, but still... The source of the data is "The List of Croatian Surnames" - the work of The Croatian academy of Sciences based on a 1948 census issued in 1970 by Nakladni Zavod Matice Hrvatske (Zagreb). Remark: the first number refers to the number of persons while the second refers to the number of families. District: town/village (Kotar) Split town 7/3 Sinj - town 6/1 Rab Pag 100/26 Novalja 37/5 Rijeka Kraljevica 4/1 Buzet Brezovica 9/3 Stanica 1 Porec Visnjan 4/1 Labin Podlabin 5/1 Delnice (Near Vrhnika) Gerovo 7/2 Karlovac town 3/2 Vrginmost Hrvatsko selo 12/3 Jastrebarsko Klinca selo 3/1 Samobor Pavucnjak 85/15 Dreznik 41/6 Zagreb 79/24 Velika Gorica Orle 1 Sisak - grad 9/2 Brkisevina 27/8 Duzica 2 Farkasic 1 Goricica 9/2 Odra 1 Stupno 3/1 Dugo selo town 3/1 Krizevci - town 2/1 Sv.Ivan Zabno 4/1 Koprivnica Reka 1 Djelekovac 20/4 Virovitica - town 3 Spisic Bukovica 4/1 Korija 4/1 Jugovo Polje 16/4 Podravska slatina Cetekovac 4/1 G. Bukovica 4/1 Nova Bukovica 4/1 Mikleus 3/2 Slatinski lipik 2 Osijek town 3/1 Djakovo town 1 Well, now, all you have to do is to get a map of Croatia and play a little bit with it. If you assume that there is one place or area the name originates from (i.e Pag), you can get a nice picture of how the migrations in the past were going. Notify Administrator about this message?
