blasone genealogico
Dear all,
it is nice to see that the forum is well and alive after all these years.
I have came across the book called Blasone Genealogico by Marko Lauro Ruiæ. The book was written by the end of 18th century in Pag and sketches the history and genealogy of Pag s nobility. Among others, there are notes on Palcic family on the island of Pag. The book roughly covers time between 1350 and 1800. The original text was recently republished by Matica Hrvaska (a Publisher from Zagreb, Croatia).
Although I do not have any permission from their side, i hope they wont mind puting here a few, really lousy translated (i hope to some extent understandable) excerpts.
Google translator has trouble with the croatian language. An archaic croatian makes things much worse.
Should anyone be interested, i can forward the pictures of these pages in PDF format. They are in Croatian.
So here goes M.L.Ruiæ...
Palcic
Biography. Palèiæ and Biliniæ and Garbin, come from the genus Skitkoviæ, later called Kreljèiæ. Descendants of the Ivan, son of Rastinja Kreljèiæ, who lived in the 14th Century.
Rastinja Palcic, son of Ivan, was elected rector the Pag rebellion of 1394th Year. During theZadar s attack on Pag, together with his son he took refuge in the Rab and hence informed the king about the bloody events that took place on the island of Pag. He died in Pag on the 30th of November 1396th , as recorded in the annualbooks. His son Lovro wasmember of the Councilby the Year1399. In the 1408 he ismentioned in a notary contract when buying the walls in the area of St. Margaret in Pag, from the outlaw Martin Stanaršiæ from Zadar. Then a council member from 1409 Year and 1433 as proposed potknez "in Consilii Generali Pagi" course correction of the new statute. One of the members of that course was his son, Sir Rassigna Palcich. In 1435th Sir Lovro Palcic potknez is a member of the Chamber or the Senate Pag community.
During withdrawals of new Pag was Osor Bishop Anthony McCaffrey (1451-1473). And he had to raise up his palace in Pag called George Dalmatian. Due to the sudden death of the bishop of Rome 1471st The palace was never completed, and subsequent alterations and adaptations to little more than what was done to preserve the source of the form.
In the land from 1452 Referred to the signor Palcich Iohannes de Pago, ser and ser palcich Laurentius Laurentius Rastignich.
In the list of nobles and members of Council from 1480 Year for Prince Peter Foscolo, are these noblemen: Sir Anthony, Sir Dobronja, Sir Lovro and Sir Petar Palcic. The document is 18 10 1554 amongst the noble council: Francis Palcic, son of Mr. Matthias (misser) Francis, Francis Palcic second and his son Peter and Luka Palcic.
In front of a notary Fran Terbetius (Rab 12th/1th 1520) Nobilis Pagensis Augustin Palcic sells toOsor nobleman George Drazic (de Drasa) piece of land in Banjol on Rab, in the suburb of St. Lucy's. The Rab is 17.10. 1537 Dominik Dokule bought from Sir Nicole Palcich nobel di Pago vineyard in Banjolu, and on 14 5th 1621 Signor Lorenzo Palcich nobile di Pago sold land to Peter Zudenigu.
This is the old “ rod”branched into four branches. The last male descendant of nobility Palèiæ, Sir Peter died in the 1690th., and with him died noble families. On the 11th feb 1690th In front of a notary Paul Kasic (Cassijem) had compiled his will and in it we read that he is indeed the last descendant of a noble lineage Palcic.
Today (1790th!) Are numerous in the Pag plebeians descendants of the eponymous line that came from Šimun Palèiæ, the illegitimate son (bastard, kid, Bastard) of JurajPalèiæ.
The coat of arms. Palèiæi used the coat that is identical with the family crest Garbin. The shield, in blue, lilac is divided vertically opposite colors, and is supported by two fingers (the thumb) growing from the bottom of the shield. The shield is decorated with a cartouche and a helmet on the buckle with a rich mantle of Baroque forms.
Palcic
Ruiæ presented two branches of folk Palèiæs genealogyafter reviewing all the dead generations of noble lineage, the first part of the manuscript explicitly indicating that it was illegitimate offspring of Palèiæ origin. Specifically, we should warn you that George Palcic had two illegitimate sons. First George, born in 1596th and the second, Simon. There is no indication at least in the sources that the first outlived their biological parents, so oneshould assume that he died immediately after birth. The second Juraj’sillegitimate son was born with a certain Elena (jelena) Dapkoviæ. He married in 1625. WithPazientaSagradon andcontinued Palèiæ lineage in a non nobleorder to present day (1790 years.)
Lineage founded by Batista Simon Palcic led in reputation and fortune, thanks primarily to a number of renowned scholars and priests, canons, mostly Pag Chapter. These are the Bevandic, with a branch Zelenjak and Palcic, later called Caskin, aftre their lands. Only Bevandic and Caskin alternately enjoyed goods of Bishop Palcich to his will from 1469 Year, till 1806 when these become their own property..
First legatarius on this testament was don Ivan Palcic (1675 - 1720), a priest of Pag collegiate. From this lineage came John the Baptist, Palcic, a notary public in Pag 1790th ,. The Collegiate had a tomb which was for himself and the entire family raised Don Simon Palcic 1768th Year. Their members are, inthe documents addressed as "Messer" and "dominus", which speaks volumes about their reputation and wealth; In their respective lands have been working sharecroppers, held the servants, and that they even had a piano in their home -rarity even in the noble house of the time in Pag. For the most part they were the owners of the palace of the Bishop Palèiæ. Josip Palcic had restored in the late 18th Century a large portal with the (grand street)Vela ulica and carved an inscription in Latin, in which he directly aims for the title of their grandfathers. 1
Another popular Branch of Palcich comes from progenitors Frane with nicknames Batinica, Muzikuja, Šare, Maksim and Glavina that were give to the 1784th Years and belonged to almost the lowest layer of the Pag plebs that they did laborers, solinari, servants and shepherds.
An inscription.
HOC JOSEPH PALCICH NATIVO IN LIMINE (fecit) QUOD SUA DETULERAT STEMA VETUSTAE DOMUS/ UT SCULPTUM SILICI LONGUM PERDURET IN AEVUM/ET TITULOS HAERES INDE REQUIRAT AVI
