Frank, so glad to learn your lineage is in Texas. Go to the FamilySearch.com website and click on the pilot search key. Enter family names you are familiar with and perhaps have passed on. I have extensive research on the Palacios surname and am willing to share with you to help you with your family search.
Feel free to contact me. The Palacios families that come into the US most of the time came with the Jose de Escandon group. Before 1848, they appear in Mier, Tamaulipas, Revilla, Tamaulipas, Cadereyta, N.L., Cerralvo, N.L., Monterrey, N.L. We do know the point of entry for most of these Spanish families that reach the New World came through Veracruz and then to Mexico City. They traveled up following the silver mine discoveries focusing then on $$$ and it was not until 1750s that they think about colonizing and obtaining free land and participating in the colonization efforts lead by Jose de Escandon. Our history is beautiful and am delighted to see that you want to share your family history with you son. Let me know how I can help.
