Like everything else with this family, the story is rather convoluted.

My father's uncle, Harry J. Evans, was adopted by the mother's second husband Carpenter. He apparently took that as his last name.

According to the info I have, none proven, he married Ella (maiden name unknown), widow of (first name unknown) Paist.

When I was young, my grandmother Wenonah visited us. My sister was somewhat friendly with the daughter of a doctor in the area by the name of Wert. At one point, Wenonah told my sister that she was familiar with the Wert family. Of course, at that point in time I had no interest in genealogy and she passed away prior to my starting the project.

Sooo, that's how it allegedly connects!
