I too am a descendant of Jacob Painter, the gunsmith. My six sisters and brother are descendants down Elisha Painter's b 1836 lineage. Elisha worked in the brick works near Springfield, and during his life moved to the Northwest. He is buried in Orting, Washington. His son Kenneth Augustus Painter b 1862 is my great grandfather. His marriage to Bessie Lindenbower took place in Springfield where their first child Harrison Roy b 1887 was born, but soon after they moved to Pennsylvania where my grandfather Harold nmi Painter b 1892 was born, along with brother Kenneth Augustus b 1889 and sister Bessie Louise b 1896. They later moved to Ohio, divorced and the mother and boys ended up in the Pacific Northwest. My grandfather Harold met his wife, Miriam Culbertson, through the purser (Ed Culbertson) on the ship he worked on. Harold was the radio operator and Miriam, the youngest of 9 children, was living with her mother in Skagway, Alaska. Harold and Miriam married and moved to Seward, Alaska, where their children were born and raised, as were all of us kids. My father was Harold Russell Painter, Harold and Miriam's first born son, and one sibling of his, Roger is still alive and resides in Anchorage, Alaska. Dad had two sisters, Bessie Louise and Agnes Francis. Most descendants of Harold and Miriam reside in Alaska. I live in California.
