Hi Beth
So good to hear from you again. I too, wonder if there could have been an earlier connection. Both Rachel and William were born in MD and also their dau MaryAnn and son James. Jackson, Rachel, William were born in Franklin Co., IL but I'm not sure which co Eliza Jane was born only that it was in Illinois. It seems that Rachel and Wm came to Illinois about 1819 so perhaps they traveled with John P and Jacob.MARYANN b. Oct 12, 1815 married Thomas E. Lowden Feb 12, 1843, JAMES b. April 26 1817 m. (1)Sarah Taylor Aug 18 1840, (2)Nancy Nobles Sep 17 1868, RACHEL b. Jan 26, 1819 m.Samuel Ryburn April 29 1840, then Samuel Samuel T. Russell Sep 20 1847, WILLIAM b. Oct 17 1821, JACKSON b. Dec 05 1824 m (1) Elizabeth Sandefer Jan 21 1847, (2) Ethalinda Winters Dec 30 1855, (3) Elizabeth Wells Nov 2 1865, and ELIZA JANE b. 1826 m. Isaac Plasters Oct 22, 1844. I wonder why the children returned to Franklin and Jackson Co.s instead of following their mother to Williamson Co.,as soon as they were of age. Rebecca Manering dau of Jackson Married Peter Hodges, son of William Hodges The Hodges family played an important role in the Painter family as they became guardians of Painter children several times in the history of the family. I would love to know their connection also. They, too may have traveled with the Painters. I wonder if the first Mrs J Painter 1754 could have been a Hodges? Oh well another road to travel. Thank you again for writing, it was sure good to hear from you and I will let you know if there is anything new. Margie
