OLDEST LIVING WORLD WAR I VETERAN DIES AT AGE OF 112
MR JOHN GEORGE PAINTER, 112, in the Hermitage Springs Community ofClay County, TN.Tennessee and the United Sates has lost the oldest knownWorld War 1 Veteran.Interment was in the Hermitage Spring Cemetery with full military honors by the Sons of the Confederate Veterans.He was living with his grandson, Danny Green, at the time of his death. A native of the Whilteyville Community of Jackson County was born September 20, 1888.He was the son of Patrick Henry and Susan Genetta McCAULEY PAINTER.He was married
to his childhood sweetheart, Gillie WATSON, on January 8, 1920, after 69 years of marriage she preceded him in death November 7, 1989. Mr Painter was born when Grover Cleveland was in his first term and lived in the term of George W Bush.
I have only a small Painter connection to my Swearengin's of SW Missouri that came from this area of TN but don't know if he is connected. Justthought some one on this list might be interested
