Photo ca 187? - Signora [Paine], Mrs. Charles May, Hartford, CT
I have been given several "Visiting Cards" from a friend who purchase them at an auction. I am attempting to contact direct descendants of Charles May and Signora [Paine] May.
The card is approximately 2 1/2 inches by 4 inches and the cards were given when wishing to visit someone. The front of the card is a photo of Mrs. Charles May, who appears to be in her early 20s. Handwritten on the back, Mrs. Charles May, Signora Pai??? 187?. Printed on the back, DeLamater, photographer, N. 258 Main Street, 3 Doors above Post Office, Hartford, Conn.
In 1870, Hartford, CT census, I found a Charles May, 29 yrs., single, b. NY, Cabinet & Furniture Dealer living in the Sendler household. In 1880, he is found Hartford on Bellevue Street, 41 yrs., Furniture Business, b. NY, parents b. CT NY. Wife, Signora A., 29 yrs. b. MA, parents b. MA MA. Also living in this household, Bellah W. Paine 58 yrs., mother in-law ( no children shown). 1900 Hartford, Charles May, 62 yrs. b. NY (census pages not easily read and no Signora shown on index)
I am an avid genealogist for my family and know how wonderful it would be to have a photo of any member of my family. I hope that you can assist me with any information that may be helpful in reaching someone in these families.
