Mr. Pain in LA hunting in 1838, wine importer from Isle of Medeira
In reading a book PLANTATION LIFE IN LOUISIANA which contains a diary written by Bennett H. Barrow, a planter and plantation owner, he mentions Mr. Pain on p. 131 who is a large importer of wine from the Isle of Medeira. He goes on a deerhunt with him and several other gentlemen from the Feliciana's. On the next page he mentions another hunt where W. Pain joins them. Same man? Likely--not positive. This may help someone. Don't think it is my Pain(e) family, but they lived in the same area of LA at the same time.
