Pailthorp/Pailthorpe
I have previously posted on GenForum under "Palethorpe".
My gr, gr, great grandfather was John Pailthorp, ~1782-1858.I don't know where he was born.He died in Stalybridge, Cheshire.
John married Ruth Staveley (1777/1781-1867), on March 15, 1803, Strelley, Nottinghamshire.
They lived in Belper, Derbyshire until they moved to Stalybridge ~1822.
Their children:
Hannah, Chr 1804, Hucknall Torkard, Notts
Eliza, Chr 1807, Belper, Derbyshire
Edmund, b. 1810, Belper, DBY; m. Margaret Hattersley
Amy, b. 1814, Belper, DBY
Sewell, b. 1816, Belper, DBY; m. Jane Crossley in Manchester, Lanc, arrived RI, USA between 1861 and 1870
Anne, b. 1818, Belper, DBY, m. Robert Black in Oxton, Notts
Dennis, b. 1820, Belper, DBY, m. 1. Maria Prosho; 2. Ruth Sykes; arrived RI, USA between 1861 and 1870
Mary, b. 1823, Stalybridge, CHS
John, b. 1824, Stalybridge, CHS, m. Abigail Wilkinson
Levi, b. 1828, Stalybridge, CHS
My line:Annie, 1907-1984 (my mother) > Joel, 1875-1943 > James, 1852-1930 > John, 1824-1844 > John, ~1782-1858.
I am wondering if there is a Pailthorp(e) out there that knows:
1.Where John ~1782-1858 is from and his parentage.
2.Why John and Ruth named one of their sons:SEWELL Pailthorp.
Thank you for your time.I look forward to hearing from you.
